Healthcare Professionals
A warm welcome to our dedicated hub for healthcare professionals and GPs
A new way of thinking in healthcare
Our aim is for you and your patients to have the best possible experience in a safe and caring hospital environment.
As one of the first private hospitals in the UK where 100% of the shares are owned by an NHS Trust, we are unique as a private healthcare provider. We re-invest all profits back into The Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust for the benefit of all patients.
We are constantly reviewing the way we work with you and have created this section of our website to help you work efficiently and effectively with Sulis Hospital.
Here’s a snapshot of how we can help you and your practice:
- Free educational evenings throughout the year.
- Free lunchtime talks at your practice, on topics of your choice.
- Private Consultant Directory details and referral information.
- NHS eReferral Guide for clinicians and practice staff.
- Latest newsletters straight to your inbox.
- Here's a link to the latest exclusion criteria.
Our friendly GP & AHP partnership team can answer any questions specific to your practice. Whether you have a question about the e-Referral process, would like more details about our consultants, or if you need to check a guide price for self-pay treatments, we are here to help.
We can provide simple patient information leaflets for your practice with links to the latest guide prices and advice on how to access private care.
Patient Choice leaflets with details on how to access the NHS eReferrals service can also be provided to your practice.
Physiotherapy protocols can be found in the accordion below.

For NHS patient referrals
Please refer all NHS patients via the e-Referral system. We are not able to accept paper referrals for NHS patients.
Sulis Hospital Bath was set up by clinicians for clinicians to offer the best possible care for patients. Our Executive Board includes consultants from various specialities who with our senior management team make decisions about the running of the hospital. We have a number of committees who feed into Clinical Governance and Risk Management and ultimately the Executive Board to form part of our robust governance structure and a ‘safety first’ culture.
All our consultants who see private patients have been appointed to substantive NHS consultant posts in their medical careers. The majority of our consultants are based at the Royal United Hospital, Bath but we also have doctors from hospitals in Yeovil, Bristol, Swindon and further afield.
The consultants choose to see and treat patients at Sulis Hospital Bath because they believe that their patients will receive outstanding care resulting in the best possible outcomes. Having close working relationships with their colleagues they are able to cross-refer if necessary to the most appropriate consultant colleague. In the unlikely event of a transfer being necessary to an acute trust, your patient will usually be looked after by the same consultant, thereby ensuring continuity of care.
Quality and safety are at the heart of all we do. We have clear governance processes led by the Head of Nursing and Allied Health Professionals with the Clinical Chairman and Hospital Director.

Sulis Hospital's treatment prices are very competitive but patients may prefer to pay in smaller monthly amounts. We offer flexible payment options through Chrysalis Finance making private healthcare more accessible.
Patients will always receive a fixed all-inclusive price for treatment before being admitted for treatment. The final price may vary according to consultant fees, prosthesis or drugs used, and pre-existing medical conditions which may alter their care pathway.
Initial consultations
Consultations range from £150 to £300. An initial consultation is required before the patient's procedure can be planned.
