Sulis Hospital opens up 100 new roles for new orthopaedic centre
Recruitment push ahead of £25m centre opening later this year.
Sulis Hospital is recruiting for over 100 new jobs ahead of its new Sulis Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SEOC) launching. SEOC will expand the existing hospital site just south of Bath and is set to open in December 2024.
Roles range from clinical to support staff in departments from Radiology to In-Patients, Hospitality to Hospital Administration. The hospital offers competitive salaries and is proud to pay the Real Living Wage. It supports flexible working, with both full-time and part-time positions available.
New staff will be recruited for SEOC but will work across Sulis Hospital. Sulis is rated Outstanding for Caring and Good Overall by the Care Quality Commission. More information and expressions of interest in the new roles can be registered online.

A recent staff survey revealed that Sulis has built a strong foundation of trust and compassionate leadership within its culture. "The strong camaraderie in the team makes it a very happy place to work,” said one staff member, while over three-quarters would recommend Sulis Hospital as a great place to work. Meanwhile, 98% of patients recommend the hospital's services.
As well as being a flexible and supportive employer with a friendly, collaborative culture, the hospital offers benefits including a health cash plan, bike-to-work scheme, and employee recognition programme. It also provides free parking, with the new building activity set to bring additional parking spaces and further facilities for bicycles and motorcycles. Permanent roles enable the hospital to provide stability, and a welcome-aboard bonus for registered
employees is also on offer.
Sulis is proud to support ongoing learning in an environment that follows best practices, ensuring that staff are well-equipped to make a difference and given ample development opportunities.
The hospital boasts a unique setting, restorative environment and thoughtful design. It is set amongst the picturesque Somerset countryside on the edge of the historic city of Bath and was designed by the internationally renowned architects Foster & Partners. This quietly revolutionary building incorporates a biophilic design to enhance staff well-being and improve patient recovery times.
In addition to private healthcare provision, the £25m SEOC will increase capacity and improve access for NHS patients to high-quality year-round elective orthopaedic care. Sulis Hospital is closely affiliated with the Royal United Hospital Bath. As part of its regional healthcare network, Sulis takes pride in being among the first independent hospitals to be part of an NHS Trust.
Simon Milner, Hospital Director, comments: “At Sulis, we’ve created an environment where practitioners can give patients the care they’ve always wanted to give. We’re committed to making a positive difference to people’s lives – not only for our patients, but for all our staff, too. As we look forward to welcoming new team members with the opening of SEOC, I’m excited to expand our services and capacity.”
Hayley Lord, Head of HR, adds: “Our people remain our biggest asset, and we have worked hard to build a strong, supportive culture. It’s heartening to see this reflected in our most recent staff survey. The conception of SEOC has brought with it many recruitment opportunities, and I have no doubt that we will welcome excellent new members of staff.”
Cara Charles-Barks, Chief Executive Officer at the RUH, comments: “We look forward to meeting those new staff members recruited to work at Sulis Elective Orthopaedic Centre, an important asset for our community as we work to reduce waiting times for elective orthopaedic surgery.”
Sulis Hospital has achieved accreditation as an elective surgical hub through NHS England's Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) scheme. Anyone who would like to find out more about SEOC or a career with Sulis can visit the website or register their interest online.
