Sulis Hospital was set up by clinicians for clinicians, to offer the best possible care for patients. Our Executive Board, which includes consultants from various specialties, works alongside senior management to uphold a ‘safety first’ culture, supported by a strong governance structure.

All our consultants treating private patients have been appointed to substantive NHS consultant posts in their medical careers. The majority of our consultants are based at the Royal United Hospital, Bath but we also have doctors from hospitals in Yeovil, Bristol, Swindon and further afield. They choose to see patients at Sulis Hospital due to our outstanding patient care and collaborative environment. Their close professional relationships enable seamless cross-referrals, ensuring patients receive the most appropriate care. In the rare event of a hospital transfer, continuity is maintained, with the same consultant overseeing treatment.

We are unable to see patients:

• Under the age of 18
• With serious unstable chronic health conditions
• With serious unstable recent or current acute health conditions
• With an ASA score of 3 (who are unstable)

For NHS patients further exclusion criteria, set by your CCG, may apply.

For private patient referrals

• If you know the consultant’s name, please send a named referral directly to them at Sulis Hospital Bath.
• If you are unsure which consultant to refer to, you can send a generic referral for a specialty. These requests are managed by the private patient adviser team.

For NHS patient referrals

All NHS patient referrals must be made via the e-Referral system. We are unable to accept paper referrals for NHS patients.

Sulis Hospital offers competitive treatment prices, but we understand that some patients may prefer to spread the cost over time. That’s why we provide flexible payment options through Chrysalis Finance, making private healthcare more accessible.

Before admission, every patient receives a fixed, all-inclusive price for their treatment. However, the final cost may vary based on consultant fees, prosthetics, medications, or pre-existing medical conditions that affect their care plan.

Initial consultations

We need to carry out an initial consultation before any procedure can be planned. Consultation fees range from £150 to £300.
