Mr Matthew Burwell
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
Matthew Burwell is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Sulis Hospital Bath. He is nationally-acknowledged as one of the top performing high volume hip surgeons in the country.
Matthew qualified as a doctor from the University of London in 1988 and undertook specialist surgical training in Orthopaedics and Trauma on the North West Thames Rotation, based at the Royal Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, completing his final year of training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital at Stanmore in 1998. Matthew has experience in the use of the MAKO robotic-assisted hip replacement since 2019, which he has found particularly helpful in patients who have had previous hip surgery as a child or adolescent. Matthew can discuss the history of robotic surgery, the results to date in the literature and what it can offer in an open and frank manner.
