nSTRIDE non-surgical treatment
What is nSTRIDE®?
nSTRIDE® is a cutting-edge non-surgical option for treating knee osteoarthritis. This procedure involves administering an autologous protein solution (APS) into your knee joint. “Autologous” means that the solution comes from the patient's own body. nSTRIDE® harnesses the body's natural healing ability to alleviate knee pain and improve joint function, potentially altering the progression of knee osteoarthritis by supporting cartilage health. During the nSTRIDE® procedure, your consultant specialist takes a blood sample, enriches it to boost healing properties, and then administers the concentrated protein solution back into your knee.
How Does nSTRIDE® Work?
nSTRIDE® is an advanced version of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy. The process begins with spinning your blood sample in a centrifuge to separate the platelets, plasma, and white blood cells. The plasma is then further treated to concentrate proteins known as growth factors, which aid in healing and contain anti-inflammatory properties. This additional preparation enhances the treatment’s effectiveness, providing more significant and longer-lasting relief from pain and swelling compared to standard PRP.
Clinical Benefits
Clinical trials have demonstrated that a single nSTRIDE® injection can lead to a 70% improvement in knee pain for individuals with knee osteoarthritis, with effects lasting for several years.
Who Can Benefit from nSTRIDE® Injections?
nSTRIDE® is suitable for people with mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis who are seeking to reduce pain and improve mobility without undergoing surgery. This treatment harnesses your body’s natural healing abilities to restore balance in the knee joint, reduce inflammation, and alleviate pain.

Understanding Knee Osteoarthritis
Knee osteoarthritis is a degenerative condition that causes pain, stiffness, and disability. It affects approximately 1 in 5 people over the age of 45 in England. This condition can significantly impact your ability to lead a full and active life.
In osteoarthritis, the cartilage that cushions the ends of the bones deteriorates over time. This cartilage acts as a natural shock absorber. As it becomes thinner and more uneven, the joint space narrows, and bones may start to rub against each other. This leads to inflammation, pain, and the formation of new bony growths. As a result, your knee may become increasingly sore, stiff, and swollen.
nSTRIDE® treats knee osteoarthritis by introducing high levels of "good" proteins from your own blood. The treatment concentrates on growth factors boosting the health of your cartilage. It also blocks negative proteins called cytokines which cause inflammation in the knee.
Your knee consultant will administer treatment in the outpatient clinic as this is a non-surgical procedures. It's minimally invasive and performed under local anaesthetic so you will not need to stay in the hospital overnight.
You can expect pain relief to start 1- 2 weeks after treatment however it can take longer to achieve the full benefit.
nSTRIDE® can reduce pain and reduce knee inflammation in people living with knee osteoarthritis. The treatment provides a higher concentration of platelets and white cells than the standard PRP treatment. Clinical trials have demonstrated that a single nSTRIDE® injection can lead to a 70% improvement in knee pain for individuals with knee osteoarthritis, with effects lasting for several years.
