Endocrinology Unit
Diabetes, thyroid, endocrine and metabolic medicine specialists.
Our endocrinologists investigate, diagnose and treat disorders of the endocrine system including diabetes and endocrinology. The endocrine system controls your hormones and is made up of glands that produce and release hormones.
Endocrine diseases develop when these glands do not produce the correct level of hormones which causes a hormone imbalance. Restoring the optimal hormonal balance is an important way of maintaining a healthy life.
There are a wide range of endocrine and metabolic conditions seen by our experts some of which are listed below.
- Thyroid diseases - there are several thyroid diseases, including thyrotoxicosis, hypothyroidism complicated by a thyroid goitre or nodule, and thyroid function abnormalities.
- Calcium disorders and metabolic bone diseases (other than osteoporosis).
